Not quite sure if the concept of our 'rude not to' department is applicable to streams - but any chance to feature Richard Skelton's immanence & immensity is going to be taken here regardless. So the emergence yesterday of new & in some cases rare tastes of his extraordinarily moving music demands space & attention.
Something from Harlassen's out of print A Way Now would be thrilling too. But the opportunity to hear Skelton in less familiar guises like Carousell, Clouwbeck, Heidika & Riftmusic couldn't be more welcome - or rewarding. While sharing intense plasticity, a tangible quavering & strain, with A Broken Consort & the releases in his own name, their subtle differences of instrumentation & attack fill out our grasp of his intensely grounded takes on loss & landscape.

Continuing the footnotes to our recent Under the Spire overview, a brisk trot through Damian Valles' distinctly not-brisk, far from trotting output - dense, accumulating, somewhat hulking, occasionally bucolic, sometimes quite moving & always diverting... Three tracks from the forthcoming free Bow Echoes [Resting Bell]:
"As I'm in a really productive period right now I've decided to go ahead and upload some of my finished projects to bandcamp. The Haze In Your Eyes is one of these projects.
Here's a little information about the release:""The Haze In Your Eyes" consists of four tracks I recorded from Decemeber '09 to February '10. The pieces are all composed of minimal and icy drones as well as field recordings. The songs were made using processed piano recordings and analogue synths.
There's no overarching idea or concept behind the pieces though they all came out with a somewhat similar sound and feeling. I hope you'll enjoy these four subtle sculptures of micro-drones and field recordings."

Still trying to track down the Lee Perry cover it appears to contain (Spotty original). But two originals - Move Right In & Time is the Fire in Which We Burn - are streaming chez Kammerflimmer & a third - Spookin' the Horse - is up via SoundCloud.
Initial impression is of a somewhat lighter, rather twangier sound. But the trademark dense, slow voice/sax/bass/percussion matrix is intact - & still a thing of wonder. Time is the Fire has a welcome propulsiveness too. Must hear more!
Slightly astounded to discover the wholly astounding Jasper TX has never graced LMYE before - though he was named in our recent 'emerging' artists top 10 (exemplifying the caveat that most of those ranked did their emerging some years ago...) & his Sky featured in a post last summer (& then amended here)...
But as a full-blown cover star Dag's a stranger here. No longer, though - below are three compelling SoundClouded tastes of his gorgeous, rumbling home-brew, with its intense texturing, its massive build, its shards & splinters & squeals & slur all freighting a notable depth of feeling...

"A sample from Jasper TX's album "Singing Stones", released by Fang Bomb in 2009. Jasper TX, known to his friends as Dag Rosenqvist, is a busy man indeed. Besides being one half of the rather amazing post-rock duo De La Mancha, he has released a number of carefully drafted and very well received solo recordings in his Jasper TX guise over the last few years, with labels such as Miasmah, Kning Disk and Lampse.
The visual aspects of Rosenqvist’s music cannot be neglected. Feelings superimposed on feelings; he works his music like a painter, applying layer after layer of colors to his compositions. In these deeply cinematic, drone based pop workings, the guitar is the most commonly featured instrument. It is however not always recognizable as such – his soundscapes could often be anything but. The sound is altered, by gentle hands, until it gets under your skin, into your soul and further.
»Singing Stones« is the fifth album proper from Jasper TX. Over almost 60 minutes, we are told a heartfelt story of windswept islands in past times, a small community surrounded by the dark sea. It’s a story of sadness, of being left behind, a story shrouded in darkness and death, but not without a glimpse of light – in hope of a possible reunion.
This is a personal album, allowing us a glimpse not only of Dag Rosenquist’s unique musical skills, but also his inner life, his beliefs and his compassion. And by echoing our not so distant history, with »Singing Stones« he actually manages to teach us all a little bit about ourselves."
